Orlando father found shot to death inside car on OBT

Victim identified as Travis Theophilus Turner

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 28-year-old man was found shot to death early Friday inside a car in Orlando, police said.

Orlando police said Travis Theophilus Turner died in the shooting, which was reported at 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Colonial Drive and Orange Blossom Trail.

Family members of Turner told News 6 that he left a nearby nightclub and stopped at a Wawa after he was shot in the intersection. They pleaded for the public's help in finding the shooter.

"He has a little girl who just had her birthday," said Danyelle Roberts Turner, the victim's cousin. "His first baby, and his family is taking it real, real hard."

Turner just turned 1 on Thursday, Roberts Turner said.

"The person who did that, can you please come forward and just turn yourself in because whatever happened to him, it didn't have to happen, and you didn't have to do this to him. Could you please just turn yourself in?" Roberts Turner said.

The victim's family and friends held a candlelight vigil for him Friday in Apopka.

"He didn't have to die like that. He was a very good person," said Turner's mother, Allison Sims. "He was a nice guy. I don't know whoever would do this to him. They need to be brought to justice because he was no troubled guy."

"He was just a loveable person, and I don't know why someone would want to take his life like that and leave him there to die," Roberts Turner said.

Colonial Drive was closed in the area after the shooting but reopened about six hours later.

"I just want justice to be served. I can't get my son back," Turner's mother said.

Orlando police said an investigation is continuing.
