Women posed as bank employees to steal debit cards, police say

Victims were told debit cards needed to be replaced

MOUNT DORA, Fla. – Two women are accused of posing as bank employees so they could persuade victims to hand over their debit cards and PIN information, according to the Mount Dora Police Department.

Authorities said they are attempting to identify the two women.

The women pretended to be bank employees while they called the victims and told them to place their debit cards at a specific location at their residence so they could be replaced, according to a news release. 

Police said the pair retrieved the debit cards from the specific locations then used the provided PINs to retrieve cash from bank ATMs on May 11 and Aug. 2.
