Orlando police: Man claims he shot robbery suspect after taking his gun

21-year-old taken to hospital in critical condition

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man was shot in the torso early Wednesday in Orlando after another man took his gun during a robbery attempt, according to police.

The shooting was reported at 6:34 a.m. at the 7-Eleven at 4355 Silver Star Road near Evans High School.

Orlando police said they were called to the store and found a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.

Police said a man inside the store told officers that the shooting victim tried to rob him, but he took the man's gun and shot him with it.

Officers, however, said they have received conflicting stories about what happened.

The shooting victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition. His name has not been released.

The store is closed during an ongoing investigation.
