A Saudi Arabian robot has become the first machine of its kind to be given citizenship of a country.
During a tech conference, Sophia Robot appeared on stage with CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin. During the interview, Sorkin told the robot--a machine created by Hanson Robotics--that Saudi Arabia had bestowed citizenship upon her.

"I am very honored and proud for this unique distinction," Sopia said. "This is historical to be the first robot in the world to be recognized with a citizenship."
At one point during the interview, Sophia was asked if she thought AI could have an effect on humans similar to the plot of the movie "Blade Runner." Sophia said, "You've been reading too much Elon Musk and watching too many Hollywood movies. Don't worry. Be nice to me and I'll be nice to you."
