ORLANDO, Fla. – Deputies are investigating another homicide in Orange County Thursday morning amid a recent rash of Orlando-area homicides.
Orange County deputies said the investigation began after the body of a 27-year-old transgender woman was found by passersby in the back parking lot at the Reserve at Lake Buchanan Apartments on Holden Avenue.
Deputies said the body did have trauma to it, but they're still working to confirm the cause of death. The victim was identified as Sasha Garden.
Details about a possible suspect or suspects have not been released.
The investigation comes as the number of Orlando-area homicides in the last week continues to rise.
One man was killed in a triple shooting Thursday morning in Daytona Beach, and a man and woman were found dead in an Orlando apartment Wednesday morning, both after a fatal shooting took place at a troubled Ocala apartment complex Tuesday night. Multiple other homicides have been reported in the Orlando area since last week, reports show.
