Small plane crashes off coast of South Florida

Aircraft registered to Simmons Pet Properties

PALM BEACH, Fla. – Officials say a small plane carrying two people crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of South Florida.

A U.S. Coast Guard news release they were responding Friday afternoon to a downed Piper PA-32R aircraft 23 miles east of Palm Beach.

Records show the fixed-wing, single engine plane took off from Palm Beach County Park Airport around 1 p.m. The aircraft is registered to Simmons Pet Properties.

Officials didn't immediately say whether anyone was injured.
