ORLANDO, Fla. – There is a silver lining in the storm after all 62 Alfred Angelo stores closed their doors around the nation.
Bridal stores all over the country have started to step up, each of them offering their own special discounts for wedding dresses. Some are doing free rush deliveries and discounted alterations.
One store that News 6 spoke with said it has already had worried Angelo brides come to their business looking for new dresses.
"Brides are already calling and as a matter of fact, we worked with two brides today who are in shock that this happened," said Pilar Marroquin, of Minerva Bridal in Orlando. "It is a sad situation, but we are opening our doors to all those brides. Set up an appointment; we're willing to work with you in any way possible."
Minerva Bridal said it has had gown designers calling all day, feeling terrible for everyone involved in the situation, already cutting prices for Angelo brides who show their receipt.
Alfred Angelo employees told brides if their dresses were paid in full, the garments should be arriving at their home.
After days of silence, Alfred Angelo released the following statement on its website Sunday about the store closures:
"Alfred Angelo filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on July 14, 2017. As a result, all stores and wholesalers are closed. Margaret Smith is the duly appointed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee. If you wish to be contacted regarding your order status once information is available please send an email to: alfredangelo@mjstrustee.com We will post additional information regarding the status of dresses on this web-site as it becomes available," the statement read. "We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and hardship resulting from this event. We greatly appreciate your patience. Thank you."
