National Weather Center forecast wind speeds between 58 and 73 mph

FLORIDA KEYS, Fla. – As Hurricane Ian continues across Florida, video shows heavy wind and rain coming down on the Florida Keys.

The Keys began to feel the hurricane’s impact Tuesday morning, and the National Weather Center forecast wind speeds between 58 and 73 mph.

National Weather Service officials also warn of the potential of storm surges that can cause flooding greater than 3 feet above ground.

Video from Twitter user Victoria Bollea shows heavy rain and wind coming down and major flooding that has a car nearly submerged.

Hurricane Ian hit Cuba on Tuesday before moving into the Gulf of Mexico, where it is has since strengthened into a Category 4 storm. At least 2.5 million Florida residents have been ordered to evacuate in anticipation of a powerful storm surge, high winds and flooding rains.
