Missing teen found safe in Seminole County

Girl had vanished from Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A missing 17-year-old who had last been seen Saturday afternoon on Daytona Beach was found safe Monday near the Altamonte Mall in Seminole County, deputies said.

Nicole Crowder, 17, of St. Louis, Missouri, was last seen on the beach around 5:30 p.m.  She was found Monday morning after Volusia County deputies received a tip from a citizen, but no other details have been released.

Officials were questioning Crowder about her disappearance.

Deputies said Crowder, who has the mental capacity of a 9-year-old, is in Florida to visit her mother in Windermere.

Deputies said Crowder was last seen in the company of an unknown black man and woman, but it's not known whom she was with when she was discovered.  Deputies said later that they're no longer looking for the man.
