VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 40-year-old woman visiting from Ohio was bitten by a shark in Daytona Beach Shores, according to Volusia County Beach Safety.
Officials said the woman was bitten in the leg while in waist-deep water in the 3300 block of Daytona Beach Shores around 1:12 p.m. on Saturday.

Her injuries were not life-threatening and she was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
This comes nearly two weeks after a 28-year-old Daytona Beach man was bitten by a shark while surfing at New Smyrna Beach.
According to officials, the man was surfing next to the New Smyrna Beach Jetty Sunday morning when he fell off his board and was bitten on his left foot by what is believed to have been a shark.
