17-year old drowns in ocean off Brevard County

Boy disappeared near West Crest boardwalk

INDIALANTIC, Fla. – A teenage boy drowned Sunday off a Brevard County beach, according to the Indialantic Police Department.

Police posted on Facebook that they were searching for the 17-year-year-old boy, who disappeared into the ocean near West Crest boardwalk.

Indialantic police later posted an update that read, “The subject was located, and unfortunately, he has been pronounced deceased.”

Indialantic Fire Department, a Brevard County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, Brevard County lifeguards and air assets from Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission helped in the search, police said.

No other information was provided.
