1900-acre fire spouts huge plume of smoke near Merritt Island Prescribed fire held at wildlife refuge, BCEM officials said

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Huge plumes of smoke could be seen near Merritt Island on Tuesday after a 1900-acre prescribed fire was held within a nearby wildlife refuge, according to Brevard County Emergency Management.
BCEM stated on social media that the fire took place within the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge.
As a result of the fire, large plumes of smoke could be seen in the air above Merritt Island.
