Scattered showers expected Friday in Central Florida after stormy weather

Central Florida had a busy afternoon on Thursday, but most of Orlando and Orange County were not affected by rough weather.

However, there were a couple of severe thunderstorm warnings for Flagler County between 4 and 5 p.m., and Brevard County experienced hail and 50 mph winds.

By now, the showers have moved offshore, and things have calmed down.

Friday will start calmer, but there will still be some lingering moisture in the area.

In the afternoon, a collision between a sea breeze and the moisture may lead to isolated to scattered showers, primarily to the south of the Orlando area and along the coast.

Although there is a possibility of an isolated thunderstorm, especially along the coast south of the cape and over the local waters, the environment will be less favorable, with less instability and slightly drier air.

However, if the skies clear out early in the morning, daytime heating may increase instability.

Showers and storms are expected to move offshore during the early evening hours and continue further east into Friday night.

Friday’s afternoon temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 80s across east-central Florida, with overnight lows dropping into the 60s on Friday evening.
