MIAMI – Boys track and field athletes from Rockledge High and Miami Northwestern were disqualified from the Region 4-3A meet Thursday in Miami after a reported altercation between team members, according to News 6 partner Florida Today.

A note from meet timers sent to newspapers covering competing teams explained late results were caused because “a fight broke out between the two schools (Miami Northwestern and Rockledge), and it led to both boys teams being DQ’d and scores/places being affected.”

The official results list every boy competing from Rockledge or Northwestern as disqualified. This, in turn, would prevent them from advancing to the Class 3A state meet, May 19 in Jacksonville. An appeal to the FHSAA could follow.
