MCO leaders predicted about 16% increase in passengers

ORLANDO, Fla. – Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer, and airport leaders are predicting more than 1 million people will travel through Orlando International Airport over the seven-day holiday travel period, with daily increases higher than last year.

MCO leaders predicted about a 16% overall increase in passengers this year over the holiday travel period, which runs from Thursday, May 25, through Wednesday, May 31.

Caylee and Josiah McDougall said Walt Disney World was the perfect place to spend their honeymoon. They’re from Texas and said their time in Orlando has been all worth it.

“It was exciting to get married and come here on our honeymoon,” Caylee McDougall said.

“We both grew up going to Disney, so we figured it’d be a great spot to go on our honeymoon and spend a week together,” Josiah McDougall said.

We ran into Deleathia Brewer-Mensah and her friends at MCO heading back home to Washington, D.C., after enjoying a few days on a Caribbean cruise.

“We went on the Royal Caribbean, the Wonder of the Seas, and that is the wonder of the sea. It’s so humungous. It’s awesome,” Brewer-Mensah said.

Jordan Murphy spent the last seven days on a birthday cruise with his family. He said his first cruise was a good time.

“I loved it. I can’t complain, a great experience. I think everyone should try it. It’s once in a lifetime,” Murphy said.
