DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Firefighters battled a home fire in Daytona Beach on Sunday that was possibly started by a lightning strike, according to a news release.

Crews from the Daytona Beach Police Department, with assistance from Volusia County Fire Rescue and Ormond Beach Fire Department, responded the residence located on Fleming Avenue.

According to the release, initial calls reported the fire was “started by a possible lightning strike.” The residents were not home at the time of the fire.

Fire officials said quick entry and rapid knockdown stopped the fire from consuming the entire home.

No injuries were reported, according to the release.
