1 dead after downtown Orlando shooting, police say

Officers respond to parking garage

ORLANDO, Fla. – A person died after a shooting early Sunday at a parking garage in downtown Orlando, according to police.

Officers responded around 2:13 a.m. to the first level of a parking garage at 2 S. Orange Avenue, the Orlando Police Department said in a statement.

According to a news release, responding officers located a vehicle that had crashed into the building.

Police said they located a shooting victim sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

The victim, later identified as 35-year-old Terry Shawn Rivers was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital by Orlando firefighters, the statement reads.

Police said this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the area. As homicide detectives investigate, anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the department, or Crimeline at 800-423-8477 to remain anonymous.
