New monthly market in Horizon West makes 407 Day debut

Leaders and locals laud new event

HORIZON WEST, Fla. – Horizon West Happenings’ first “Homegrown in Horizon West” kicked off on Sunday, which also happened to be a day centered around celebrating all things Central Florida.

Lindsay Turner, director of content for Horizon West Happenings, said they’re excited to bring this event to the community.

“This has been a long time coming and we have listened to residents and what they want is to come together and have all the things they have been looking for right here in their hometown,” Turner said.

The first Homegrown in Horizon West also happened to fall on 407 Day.

“We’re really excited about that,” said Horizon West Happenings’ Culture and Engagement Manager Heather Parker. “It’s really great to showcase it here right in Horizon West.”

Horizon West has experienced a lot of growth in recent years. Organizers said the Homegrown in Horizon West is a great way to make sure people who live in Horizon West are still getting what they want out of their community while it continues to grow.

“We are here to be out there creating what the community wants to see and help them to be an advocate for themselves and what they want to have here in Horizon West,” Parker said.

Audrey Houston owns Love Story Street Boutique and said she wanted to be the first to sign up when she heard about the new event.

“I’m a Horizon West local and we have been waiting for something like this to come to our community for so long, so I think the entire area is really excited to have our very first market here in Horizon West,” Houston said.

Neighbors agree – they said they love supporting small businesses in this way.

“It’s great to have something like this and support local business,” said Horizon West resident James Stinson. “We’re all about that and helping people grow locally.”

The Homegrown in Horizon West is set to take place on the first Sunday of each month.
