ORLANDO, Fla. – A Monday court hearing for suspended Orlando City Commissioner Reginal Hill, who’s accused of exploiting an elderly woman and using more than $100,000 of her life savings on personal luxuries, has been canceled.
The hearing would have focused on subpoenas for witnesses. The reason why it was canceled was not immediately known.
Hill, who maintains her innocence, was scheduled to go to trial in May, but a judge last week delayed it by setting a status hearing for Aug. 13.
Prosecutors claim Hill convinced the 96-year-old woman to give her power of attorney, then drained her life savings to buy a house, get a facelift and purchase other expenditures.
