PALM BAY, Fla. – A 25-year-old man was arrested early Monday after police say he intentionally crashed into a Palm Bay police vehicle, led officers on a high‑speed pursuit with his headlights off and later resisted arrest before being taken into custody on multiple charges.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers “maintaining scene security” were assisting with traffic control at a crash near Walden and Wyoming Drive SE around 2 a.m. when another Palm Bay police sergeant reported a reckless driver speeding toward the scene. Moments later, the sergeant radioed that the vehicle had “intentionally crashed” into his vehicle before fleeing.

Officers then said they then pursued the the suspect’s vehicle with lights and sirens activated. The driver — later identified as 25‑year‑old Anthony Devon Nunnally — continued at excessive speeds for about two miles, turned off his headlights and drove with “wanton disregard for public safety.”

According to the affidavit, Nunnally lost control near Seven Gables Drive and Koutnik Road SE, went airborne and crashed into a parked car at 799 Seven Gables Circle SE.

Police said when they approached Nunnally, he tried to run, but stumbled into a ditch and continuing to resist commands. Officers then shocked Nunnally with their Taser with “little effect” before officers were able to handcuff him.

According to the affidavit, the police sergeant was a taken to the hospital for injuries sustained in the initial crash, but was treated and released.

Nunnally, who was also taken to the hospital, smelled of alcohol and was slurring his words, police said. A DUI investigation at the hospital resulted in probable cause for DUI and refusal to submit to testing, according to the affidavit.

Nunnally faces a long list of charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, DUI with property damage, DUI with personal injury, refusal to submit, resisting an officer without violence, leaving the scene of a crash with minor injuries, and multiple counts of leaving the scene with property damage.

He was later turned over to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
