7 more Central Florida eateries shut down over health violations

ORLANDO, Fla. – Last week, seven more restaurants across Central Florida were forced to close after a visit from a health inspector, according to state records.

These records show that the reported eateries experienced violations like rodent droppings, pests, and storage violations.

However, most of these restaurants were allowed to reopen within a day or two after meeting inspection standards.

The full list of Central Florida restaurants required to close last week is as follows:


DAYTONA BEACH

  • The Club at Pelican Bay North — 350 Pelican Bay Drive
    • Closed on March 6
      • Nearly 90 rodent droppings found on premises
      • Time/temperature violations for butter and sour cream
      • Raw beef kept over tartar sauce in walk-in cooler
      • Wiping cloth sanitizer solution exceeds maximum concentration allowed
    • Met inspection standards on March 6

MELBOURNE

  • Kelly’s Crickets — 650 N. Wickham Road
    • Closed on March 2
      • Six small, flying insects found on premises (operator later sprayed to kill insects)
      • Four live roaches found in top of dishwasher by chemical line reels (operator killed roaches before cleaning and sanitizing)
      • Temperature violation for half-and-half creamer
    • Met inspection standards on March 2

NEW SMYRNA BEACH

  • River Deck Restaurant — 107 N. Riverside Drive
    • Closed on March 2
      • Over a dozen dead roaches found on premises
      • Four live roaches found on premises
    • Met inspection standards on March 3

OCALA

  • Braised Onion — 754 NE 25th Ave.
    • Closed on March 4
      • Eight dead roaches found on floor throughout kitchen and server areas
      • Six live roaches found on premises
    • Met inspection standards on March 6

PALM COAST

  • Thai By Thai — 250 Palm Coast Pkwy.
    • Closed on March 2
      • One dead roach found in drain pan of hot water tank under dish machine
      • Nearly 50 rodent droppings found on premises
      • Burn gel stored under to-go containers above flip-top cooler filled with food
      • Washed vegetables stored in Walmart and grocery bags on cook line
      • Raw chicken kept over raw beef in walk-in cooler
      • Time/temperature violations for cooked beef, rendered fat, broth, and streamed noodle on prep table
    • Met inspection standards on March 4

TAMPA

  • Ha Long Bay — 20685 Bruce B Downs Blvd.
    • Closed on March 5
      • Over a dozen dead roaches and one egg case found on premises
      • Over a dozen live roaches found on premises
      • Operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license
      • Eggs stored above fried egg container in reach-in cooler
    • Met inspection standards on March 6
  • Uptown Joe’s New York Diner — 777 N. Ashley Drive
    • Closed on March 2
      • Ten dead roaches found beneath reach-in cooler in front of kitchen entrance
      • Over 15 live roaches found on premises
      • Chips left in non-food-grade plastic to-go bag
    • Met inspection standards on March 3
