ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is asking the public’s help in identifying the driver who they said struck and killed a pedestrian in a hit-and-run crash in Orange County.
The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of John Young Parkway and Oak Ridge Road.
Northbound John Young Parkway remains shut down as troopers investigate. Drivers are urged to avoid the area.
According to an FHP report, a sedan was traveling northbound on John Young Parkway, south of Oak Ridge Road, in the center lane when it struck a male pedestrian who was walking midblock — outside of a marked crosswalk — in the direct path of the vehicle. The driver then fled the scene
The victim, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
Traffic homicide investigators received a possible suspect vehicle description and a photo of the suspected driver from a witness at the scene.
The suspect vehicle is described as a 2024-2025 dark gray Kia K5. The suspect driver is described as a dark-skinned adult male.
Investigators say the vehicle should have significant front bumper damage and damage to the undercarriage.
