ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orlando man was arrested after he left a 4-year-old child behind while fleeing from law enforcement, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
In a release, deputies said that the incident happened on June 9, when the man — identified as Jason Kenon, 24 — was found driving recklessly through the county with the two young children in his vehicle.
But during the incident, Kenon crashed into another vehicle and let a passenger exit with a 1-year-old child before he drove off — a 4-year-old child still in the back seat, deputies added.
“He later stopped, fled on foot and left the child behind while attempting to escape,” the release reads. “Deputies took the suspect into custody moments later. Both children were evaluated and were not injured.”
Now, Kenon faces charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, leaving the scene of a crash, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and two counts of child abuse.
