GENEVA, Fla. – A 31-year-old woman is is in the hospital after an alligator bite Sunday afternoon, according to the Seminole County Fire Department.

Officials say she was swimming with a group of friends in the Little Big Econ River near Geneva when the bite happened around 1:30 p.m.

The fire department says she went to the hospital as a trauma alert.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were also called to the scene.
