Police said the fisherman had fallen into the Causeway and was swept away by a strong current.

When officers arrived on scene the fisherman was approximately 150 yards off shore, appearing to be tired and struggling to stay afloat, police said.

With no other immediate resources available, officers Daniel Michaud and  David Ross dove into the water and swam out to the fisherman. Working together they were able to help the fisherman and get him back to shore, police said.

The fisherman, 60-year-old Michael Moore, was treated on scene by the Melbourne Fire Department and released without further incident.
