Orlando Mayor's City Academy offers behind the scenes look at government

2018 Mayor's City Academy begins March 8

ORLANDO, Fla – If you've ever felt like you might want a better understanding of how the local government works in Orlando, The Mayor's City Academy might be for you.

The 2018 Mayor's City Academy, which begins on March 8, is an 11-week program that offers a backstage tour of the inner workings of the City Beautiful.

Participation in the academy gives you the opportunity to meet with city employees, take road trips and see field demonstrations, all to offer a new perspective and understanding of local government.

Specifics of the program include private tours of Orlando City Hall, visits to the police headquarters, fire stations and a behind-the-scenes look at community venues.

According to the news release, the program is designed to give citizens,"a greater appreciation of our hard-working City staff."

"I’m excited to offer this unique look inside our City government," Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said. "The Mayor’s City Academy is an ideal way to become more informed, engaged and involved!"

The Mayor's City Academy is for residents living within Orlando's city limits. Consideration for Orange County residents will take place if any extra spots become available.
