Unknown man throws ax at car, injures 2

Teens injured in ax throwing incident

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona Beach police are looking for a man they say threatened a car full of six teenagers before throwing an ax through the window of their car.

The incident happened on Friday around 12:45 p.m. on South Williamson Boulevard and Beville Road as the kids were headed to the flea market.

Police said they were called by the teens who were visibly shaken and scared after the attack.

All the kids told police they headed to the flea market and at the intersection of the road when an unknown black man drove up, got out of his car and approached the passenger side of their car.

Police said they were told the driver of that car was screaming obscenities at them.

The teens told the man, who is described as an adult male in his 30's, they did not want any trouble, but he didn't stop his attack, said police.

Authorities said the man yanked the passenger door open and screamed at a 15-year-old passenger,"I just did 15 years in prison, you want a pistol in your mouth?"

Police said the driver of the car started to drive off as the teen yanked the door shut away from the suspect. That's when police said the man grabbed a large roofing ax from his car and threw it through the rear passenger window of the victim's car.

The glass from the window shattered all over the teens and narrowly missed hitting one of the kids, said police.

Police searched the area for hours, but were unable to find the suspect.
