"I have been told by my doctor that after several chemo treatments and a bone marrow transplant, my cancer is now in remission.  I want to thank everyone who has encouraged me through this battle;  I could not have done it without your thoughts and prayers.  It is quite a feeling when people you do not even know are rooting for you.  I want to thank my friends and family who have been a rock for me throughout this battle."

Williams told Local 6  that he was diagnosed after a routine check-up in January 2011, when he completed the Disney Marathon.  He told us then he saw his diagnosis as a calling to bring awareness about the lack of funding for cancer research.
