Neighbors share stories of WWII vet killed in Casselberry home

Body of Wallace "Wally" Worman, 87, found Monday

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – Neighbors and church members gathered in Seminole County on Tuesday evening to honor the life of Wallace "Wally" Worman.

Worman, 87, a WWII veteran, was found slain inside his Casselberry home on Monday. Edward Marrero, 23, is charged for his death.

Several dozen people gathered at Red Bug Lake Park, where Worman rode his bicycle daily.

Victor Iacone said he was one of the last people to see Worman alive, after leaving church Sunday afternoon.

"We did our service and everyone left, and that's the last I saw of him," Iacone said. "Going into that church this coming Sunday without him here will be the first time since I've been a member there that I won't see his face on a Sunday."

The pastor of Alome United Methodist Church helped lead the crowd in song and in sharing stories.

Several neighbors said it is emotionally difficult for them to drive down their street in the wake of Worman's murder.

Detectives have not said how Worman came into contact with Marrero prior to his death.
