News 6, Petty's Meat Market help viewers beat the heat

Event offers free cooking, charging stations for people without power

LONGWOOD, Fla. – News 6 teamed up with Petty's Meat Market in Longwood to help get results for people trying to beat the heat after Hurricane Irma. 

Petty's Meat Market, located along State Road 434, opened its doors Thursday and cooked food brought in by people who did not have power.

News 6 anchor Julie Broughton and Meteorologist Candace Campos were on hand to provide charging stations and WiFi for people who wanted to reconnect after days in the dark.
