ORLANDO, Fla. - Briana Conde, 18, is back home in central Florida after graduating from infantry training with the U.S. Army.
On Friday, Conde graduated in the presence of her parents in Fort Benning, Georgia.
News 6 first introduced viewers to Conde in July, about two months after she graduated from University High School.
Conde's U.S. Army recruiter said that she is the first female in the Orlando area to ever sign up, let alone complete front line combat training.
"We were all trainees and we were all training for the same job and there was nothing standing out about females being there at all," Conde said.
Conde told News 6 that her training class started with 52 women, and 18 were left standing on graduation day.
Conde said what she did is something other women can do as well.
"If you want to do it, you can do it. And it's about not quiting. It's simple. If you want it you can do it," Conde said.
After New Year's Day, Conde leaves Florida to report for duty.
