KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A 20-year-old man was arrested Friday on allegations of making a bomb threat, prompting several Kissimmee businesses to be evacuated.
Jacob A. Ortiz was arrested on charges of making a false report of a bomb.
Kissimmee police said the Orange County bomb squad was called to Broadway near Monument Avenue after Ortiz said a suitcase near a large propane tank outside a hardware store contained a bomb.
Broadway was closed from Ruby to Neptune Road, and all businesses on Broadway were evacuated.
Bomb squad officials detonated the package, spewing papers and clothing on the road.
An "all clear" was given, and Broadway was reopened to motorists. The businesses were also reopened.
