Driver entrapped in vehicle

THE VILLAGES, Fla. – A car crash landed on top of a sign and retaining wall in The Villages Tuesday morning, according to the Marion County Fire Rescue.

The driver was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extracted. He or she was taken to an area hospital as a trauma alert.

A 911 call came in at 8:18 a.m. about a single-vehicle accident at 8635 SE 166th Martin Lane. It's unclear what caused the driver to go off the roadway. 

Firefighters from MCFR’s Weirsdale station arrived at 8:23 a.m. to stabilize the vehicle and remove the driver.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
