Report of armed teen prompts lockdown at 2 Seminole County schools

Lockdowns lifted at Greenwood Lakes Middle School, Lake Mary High School

LAKE MARY, Fla. – Two schools were placed on lockdown on Tuesday after a student reported seeing a possibly armed man on campus, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

A student at Greenwood Lakes Middle School told a school resource deputy that two teenage males, one of whom might have been armed with a gun, jumped a fence onto campus while students were changing classes, deputies said.

Greenwood Lakes Middle School was placed on lockdown as was nearby Lake Mary High School. The lockdown for both schools was lifted after deputies determined there was no threat to either campus.

"We appreciate the fact that the student who observed this activity immediately reported it to school officials so that the incident could be quickly investigated," the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
