Woman sexually assaulted outside Cabbage Patch Bar, deputies say

Victim said man had been harassing her

SAMSULA, Fla. – A man who had been harassing a woman at Sopotnick's Cabbage Patch Bar followed her to the parking lot and sexually assaulted her in her car , the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

The exact time of the incident has not been released, but deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at about 5 a.m. Friday.

Deputies said the man had been bothering the 44-year-old woman while they were in the bar. The man followed her and assaulted her when she left to go to her car, according to a news release.

The Cabbage Patch Bar is famous for its Bike Week coleslaw wrestling event. The owner of the bar, Ronald Luznar, died Oct. 20 in a head-on collision. Troopers said he was driving the wrong way on State Road 44.
