Video: Cocoa police bodycam shows dog rescue

One scoop at a time lab gets free

COCOA, Fla. – Two Cocoa police officers worked together to free a black Labrador retriever this week after a little digging, video from the officers' body cameras showed.

The officers patiently worked with the homeowner to try to find a solution to this doggone problem.

“It's OK, it’s OK, girl,” the officer says to the stuck pooch. “Slowly but surely we’ll get it.”

The 9-year-old lab named Maya is seen in the body camera wiggling around, clearly stuck under the wooden fence.

One shovel scoop at a time, Officers Adam Phan and Xzevies Baez were able to free Maya about 10 minutes.

The officers even stayed to fill in the hole under the fence, to prevent Maya from being stuck again.

Maya wagged her tail and walked around after she was set free from under the fence, the video shows.
