News 6 wins more AP awards than any other station in Central Florida

Associated Press awards held in Orlando Saturday

ORLANDO, Fla. – News 6 attended the Associated Press awards in Orlando on Saturday and received more awards than any other station in Central Florida.

WKMG-TV won an award in each category for which it received a nomination.

News 6 reporter Sachelle Saunders and photographer Justin Potter won the "General Assignment" award for their piece titled "Return to Pulse."

Reporter Nadeen Yanes, photographer Jeff Segers and producer Tara Evans won "General Assignment, Long Format" award for their story, "Inside Pulse: Before Hate Hit."

News 6 reporter Erik Sandoval won best "Breaking News, Long Format" for his coverage of the Pulse nightclub shooting.

News 6's news director, Allison McGinley and her staff won "Continuing Coverage" for their entry titled "The Attack at Pulse."

Executive producer Angel Blazquez, photographer Paul Giorgio and their staff received the "Public Affairs / Documentary / TV Magazine" award.

News 6 reporter James Sparvero won best "Multi-Media Reporter."
