Time is running out to "Save The Bees" as a specialty, honey-colored license plate bearing the flowery message nears a June deadline with only about a third of the pre-sale vouchers it needs to become reality.

Officials say a tractor-trailer hauling about 15 million bees to be used to pollinate blueberry fields crashed and overturned on Interstate 95 in Maine.

A semi-truck and a pickup truck hauling beehives crashed on U.S. 301 early Tuesday morning in Duval County, the Florida Highway Patrol told News 6 partner WJXT-TV.

Hurricanes Ian and Nicole didn't just destroy homes and businesses — a local beekeeper also says Florida's bee population took a hard hit.

Beyond the profitable products and byproducts harvested directly from honey bee colonies such as honey, wax, propolis, and royal jelly, more than 90 different crops—about one-third of total crop production in the U.S.—are dependent upon these prolific pollinators for their survival and prosperity.

Researchers nicknamed the insect the “Murder Hornet” because its venomous sting can kill a human if they are stung several times.
