The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Sanborn Center 815 S. Alabama Ave., DeLand. Officials said the Blue Spring Wetland Recharge Project would determine the feasibility for transforming the borrow pit into an aquifer recharge site that would increase groundwater supplies and water flow in the spring. Volusia County and the cities of DeLand, Deltona and Orange City are sponsoring the meeting. The project also is being done in collaboration with the St. Johns River Water Management District. They say it's important to maintain the banks to ensure continued access for wildlife and preservation of ecological and historic resources and to provide visitor safety.
