A motorcyclist was killed Sunday morning after it crashed into the back of a boat trailer, according to the Deland Police Department.

Law enforcement agencies in Central Florida told News 6 they have been working for years to recruit more women, but many said it has been a challenge.

A skydiver was killed in a hard landing in DeLand after his parachute malfunctioned, according to the police department.

The Deland Police Department is investigating several reports of a man driving a black vehicle and following children from local schools.

DeLand officials are asking for the public’s help identifying a robbery suspect.

Officer Johan “Joey” Mulero was fired in December 2018 after a DeLand Police Department internal investigation determined he used “excessive and unreasonable” actions while arresting a man. However, Mulero’s grievance filed was sustained in part and the city was ordered to reinstate him with conditions due to several issues with the DeLand Police Department Internal Affairs investigation, according to the ruling. AdThe department failed to comply with the Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights on several grounds, according to the arbitrator. “The City was required to make sure the investigation was conducted properly – but did not,” the arbitrator determined. DeLAND, Fla. – A 43-year-old man with physical disabilities was attacked, beaten and robbed by two men who remain on the loose, DeLand police said. The attack happened around 5:15 p.m. Sunday outside 1 First Class Barber Shop, at 120 E. New York Ave.“The way they attacked him and took off. It was horrendous,” Christopher Vest, a barber who witnessed the event said. DeLand police said surveillance video from a nearby business shows a man in a white T-Shirt punching the victim several times. To beat up on somebody who’s just trying to earn a living, it’s ridiculous.”One of the assailants was wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants.
