Sam the Eagle may be just the beginning of new Muppets attractions at Epcot
The surprising addition of Sam the Eagle at Epcot took many cues from PizzeRizzo that opened at Disneys Hollywood Studios in late 2016. One of the yet to be announced but well-known upcoming projects is a complete redo of the Imagination Pavilion. If The Muppets do take over the Imagination Pavilion, its likely that the Mobile Lab would be frequently used within the pavilion area.At Epcot, the Imagination Pavilion provides space for a dark ride, a theater attraction, and a possible play area. By moving Muppets from Hollywood Studios to Epcot, it opens up prime real estate at the studios park while helping address the lack of kid-friendly offerings at Epcot. Its no secret that while food and beverage sales at Epcot are among the highest per guest of any Disney park, merchandise sales lag behind most of the other parks.

The new land rounded out the final significant piece of a multi-year expansion of the television and film-based theme park. While Disney hasnt shared what this new theater will be screening, the name seems to indicate that the Mickey Mouse shorts, like those which inspired Runaway Railway, be screened in the theater. Disney also hasnt revealed the exact location of the reimagined venue but noted it was within the parks theater district, which is viewed as the area directly around the Chinese Theater. These future plans are far less set-in-stone, thanks to the shifting leadership and changing priorities within the parks division. Disney has so far not indicated if or when any these changes will take place. All of the confirmed additions should open within the next eight to twelve months.
