NFL free agency: Day 2 tampering period winners (Dan Quinn, Rashaad Penny) and losers (Elijah Moore, Colts)
Here are a few winners and losers from the second day of the NFL's free agency period. Let's be real — the first overall pick is going to start a handful of games this season, but Dalton's presence helps ease the transition. It's safe to say Penny did that by choosing to sign with the Eagles on the second day of free agency. Now, Penny gets to run behind arguably the best offensive line in the sport while playing next to Jalen Hurts. Ryan won't be a Colt this coming season, but they still owe him the $12 million from his re-worked contract.
wftv.comMahomes, Hurts buoy Super Bowl teams amid QB injury spate
In all, nine of the 14 participants in the postseason never had to turn to a backup QB to start. The Eagles came close: Hurts missed two games with a bad shoulder; Philadelphia went 0-2 with Gardner Minshew in his place. Seems obvious: Having your preferred QB1 available week after week makes your offense more likely to succeed. (As an aside, Mahomes and Hurts might want to watch out on Super Sunday: The Eagles ranked No. “What you don't want is Christian McCaffrey playing quarterback," Lott said, referring to the 49ers' do-everything running back.

The Jaguars are one game back from the Titans, with a rematch against Tennessee coming in Week 18. The Jets make a final stand against the roaring Jaguars on TNFI'm not sure what else there is to say about Trevor Lawrence. Burrow tilted the game in his favor on a couple of explosive plays, and Jackson did something similar in Week 1. But the football gods decided to increase the difficulty level for the Jaguars tonight:Both Jacksonville offensive tackles are injured. With Jacksonville ranking 29th in rushing success rate, Knight should be a top-24 option for any fantasy manager.

Perhaps these sleeper calls will make more sense as DFS options, or encourage you to make a daily fantasy play. WR Chris Moore vs. ChiefsI get it, we want to skate to where the puck is headed, not where it’s been. I might need Moore in a few tricky flex spots. WR Elijah Moore vs. LionsMoore was in the doghouse a few weeks ago, but all is forgiven. wftv.comDawson Knox sets up go-ahead TD by getting body-slammed on bizarre encroachment penalty
This is one way to bait your opponent into a penalty. In a scoreless game late in the first half on Sunday, Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox moved in motion then lined up under center on fourth-and-1. The Jets linebacker leapt over the line of scrimmage, then grabbed Knox and slammed him to the turf. Knox celebrated as the Bills secured a first down. It was secured by none other than Knox, who followed up his successful fourth-down penalty inducement with a 24-yard scoring pass from Josh Allen.

The Jets upset the Bills with Zach Wilson as their QB, so why are the Bills so heavily favored this week? Derrick Henry’s health is one of fantasy football’s most important questions right now. Also, is there any reason to expect Deshaun Watson will be less terrible this week against a good Bengals defense? Also, Tyler Huntley taking over as the Ravens QB should mean good things for Mark Andrews.

Matt and Dalton also predict a big week for Kansas City Chiefs rookie RB Isiah Pacheco against the Rams and Miami Dolphins RB Jeff Wilson against the Houston Texans. Later, they discuss Sam Darnold taking over as the starter for the Carolina Panthers and wonder if first-year Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett is going to be fired after this season. wftv.comFantasy Football: Thanksgiving breakdown for Bills-Lions, Giants-Cowboys and Patriots-Vikings
My eyes will be on how much of the passing game we'll actually see. Cousins took a career-high seven sacks with only 105 passing yards. While Cousins does more of his dancing off-field than on, the Vikings rushing attack can help take the pressure off their quarterback. Chicago dropped 206 rushing yards on the Patriots, and Green Bay's duo wasn't too far behind at 183. However, Smith offers unique access to a passing game against the 22nd-ranked defense in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to tight ends.

The guys wonder if Daniel Jones or Brian Daboll deserves more credit for the Giants’ success, whether the Cowboys will ever go back to giving Zeke more touches than Pollard and if the Bears need to stop calling designed runs for Justin Fields before he gets seriously injured. They also discuss the Eagles looking lost without Dallas Goedert, Josh Allen maybe having lost his confidence, the Steelers looking better (but still bad) on offense, and how the heck the Broncos left Davante Adams open in overtime. Finally, Matt explains why the Jets and Patriots deserve no excuses for their putrid offenses and the guys discuss if Baker Mayfield is one of the worst backup QBs in the league (no starter, backup). 02:45 Lions 31, Giants 1809:40 Cowboys 40, Vikings 318:20 Falcons 27, Bears 2426:00 Eagles 17, Colts 1631:30 Bills 31, Browns 23 (in Detroit)36:00 Bengals 37, Steelers 3040:30 Raiders 22, Broncos 16 (OT)46:00 Saints 27, Rams 2052:00 Commanders 23, Texans 1054:10 Patriots 10, Jets 362:15 Ravens 13, Panthers 3Check out all the episodes of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Forecast and the rest of the Yahoo Sports podcast family at https://apple.co/3zEuTQj or at Yahoo Sports Podcasts
wftv.comDuvernay-Tardif back with Jets after working on residency
Veteran guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif signed with the Jets' practice squad Friday, giving New York some depth on a unit hit hard by injuries this season. Duvernay-Tardif stepped away from football after spending the last two months of last season with the Jets so he could begin working on his medical residency program at a Montreal-area hospital. “It's phenomenal,” Jets coach Robert Saleh said of Duvernay-Tardif balancing both football and his medical education. Midway through last season, Duvernay-Tardif chose to return to football and was traded from Kansas City to New York in November 2021. Duvernay-Tardif played in eight games with the Jets, including seven starts at right guard.

Offensive Player of the Year: Tyreek HillHill is having the best season of his career in his first season in Miami. He has been so dominant he should get MVP consideration, but Mahomes has him edged out for now. Relegation Award: Indianapolis ColtsThe Colts claim to be an NFL team, but they just pulled off the real life equivalent of a Ted Lasso hire. Going from ESPN airwaves to the head coach of an NFL team over the course of a few days is the decision making of a franchise that isn’t serious right now.
wftv.comEagles, New York teams off to NFL's most surprising starts
This 2022 season has been filled with surprises — few bigger than the success of those teams. They're now finding success with rosters that lack star power, although some of their young players are on their way. Brown to one of the NFL's most talented rosters and showed glimpses of their potential last season. “We’ve committed to playing a lot of young players and some teams wouldn’t do that,” Jets general manager Joe Douglas said. “This is Geno at the other end of his career,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said.
wftv.comJets coach Robert Saleh committed to Zach Wilson after brutal game vs. Patriots
Jets coach Robert Saleh said Monday that he never thought about benching Wilson despite his rough performance in their 22-17 loss to the New England Patriots. wftv.comFantasy Football: Don't expect run-heavy NFL teams to help your pass catchers
In the 2021 NFL season, every team threw the ball on at least half of its offensive snaps. Don't expect run-heavy NFL teams to change their approachOh, no one is throwing a parade for the 2-4 Bears. If you swapped Travis Kelce and Goedert (putting Goedert on the Chiefs), I'd be ranking Goedert at TE1 every week. He’s posted a reasonable 214 yards in the last three weeks, he’s clearly the No. Atlanta’s passing tree is especially narrow, and he was a credible fantasy option through the first three weeks (16-214-2).

wftv.comJets continue surge with convincing 27-10 win at Green Bay
GREEN BAY, Wis. — (AP) — Breece Hall ran for 116 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown, the surprising Jets sacked Aaron Rodgers four times and New York won its third straight with a 27-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Green Bay (3-3) has lost consecutive regular-season games within the same season for the first time since coach Matt LaFleur's arrival in 2019. The Jets, whose offensive coordinator is LaFleur's younger brother Mike, outrushed Green Bay 179-60 in a game during which Zach Wilson was just 10 of 18 for 110 yards. The Packers capitalized on an unnecessary roughness penalty on Jordan Whitehead that nullified a third-and-2 incompletion and gave Green Bay a first down. Quinnen Williams sacked Rodgers on Green Bay’s next series to force a fumble that running back Aaron Jones recovered at the Packers 8.

wftv.comJets run past Dolphins 40-17, snap 12-game skid vs. AFC East
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — (AP) — New York got a safety on Miami's first offensive play, Michael Carter scored on a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs and the Jets ran past the Dolphins 40-17 on Sunday to snap a 12-game skid against AFC East opponents. That came four days after Tagovailoa took a hit against Buffalo that caused him to slam to the ground. And the Jets took advantage with a sudden scoring surge. Jets rookie DE Jermaine Johnson was carted to the locker room in the third quarter with an ankle injury. Jets: Travel to Green Bay next Sunday, when New York coach Robert Saleh will take on close friend/Packers coach Matt LaFleur — brother of Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur.
wftv.comFantasy Football Sleepers for Week 5: Hope for Zach Wilson?
Perhaps you’ll add a player to your fantasy bench as depth, but won't deploy him this week. Zach Wilson vs. DolphinsFor most of Wilson's 2022 debut, he was awful at Pittsburgh. The Miami defense is backwards when it comes to modern scheme — the Dolphins stuff the run (fourth in run DVOA) but give it away against the pass (31st in pass DVOA). He’s run pure in the touchdown column, scoring four times on 12 catches, and also has a kick return for a score. Toney isn’t playable in fantasy for Week 5, but he’s worth stashing in medium and deep leagues.
wftv.comFantasy Football Waiver Wire, Week 5: Scouring for pickups after latest rash of injuries
So in all likelihood, you're gonna need to hit the fantasy waiver wire this week. Gallup has an 1,100-yard season to his credit with Dak Prescott as his quarterback, so his fantasy potential is well established. It's hard to believe there's not at least one manager in every 12-team league who should be adding Gallup this week. Edmonds saved his fantasy week with a 7-yard TD reception, but he was decisively out-touched by the guy who now appears to sit atop the team's backfield hierarchy. Over the next three weeks, they face the Texans, Colts and Giants, which seems like a layup line for fantasy purposes.

wftv.comNFL features record-tying 10 new head coaches
There will be a new look on the sideline in Week 1 of the NFL season with a record-tying 10 new head coaches. The other coaches looking for success after previously getting fired are Jacksonville's Doug Pedersen, New Orleans' Dennis Allen and Houston's Lovie Smith. The other first-time coaches are Nathaniel Hackett in Denver, Mike McDaniel in Miami and Kevin O'Connor in Minnesota. Teams with first-year coaches haven't had great success in recent years as most stepped into poor situations. Chargers make blown leads an art form in season full of them
(AP Photo/Jack Dempsey)In a season full of blown leads, perhaps no team has perfected the art of the late-game collapse better than the Los Angeles Chargers. That makes the Chargers the first team in NFL history to blow a lead of at least 16 points in four straight games. While the Chargers have blown the biggest leads, there have been plenty of other teams to squander big advantages. MISSING TOM: The Patriots have gone three straight games without a touchdown pass for the first time since Tom Brady’s first year as the New England starter in 2001. The Jets have also gone three straight games without a TD pass, meaning these teams will take the two longest active streaks into their meeting on Monday night.
