19-year-old killed in head-on crash in Osceola County, FHP says
Charges pending against Natasha Johnson Smith, 27
OKEECHOBEE, Fla. – A 19-year-old Plant City man was killed when his car was struck head-on by a car passing other vehicles on State Road 60 in Osceola County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said Peter Finucane-Terlop died in the crash, which was reported at 10:20 p.m. Sunday on S.R. 60 near Peavine Road.
Troopers said Natasha Johnson Smith, 27, of Spring Hill, was driving a 2011 BMW 535i west on S.R. 60 and was passing other vehicles by traveling in the eastbound lanes.
An oncoming Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 29-year-old Fort Pierce man, swerved to avoid the BMW, but Finucane-Terlop's Volkswagen GTI was struck head-on, the FHP said.
Finucane-Terlop was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.
Smith suffered serious injuries and was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center, troopers said.
Alcohol did not play a role in the crash, according to the FHP.
All three drivers were wearing their seat belts, troopers said.
The FHP said charges are pending against Smith.
