Bicyclist fatally struck in Port Orange crash on New Year’s Eve

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – Port Orange police are investigating a New Year’s Eve crash that left a bicyclist dead.

According to police, a driver struck the bicyclist with their vehicle Thursday at 8:43 p.m. at the intersection of Dunlawton Avenue and Village Trail.

The driver stopped after striking the bicyclist and rendered aid before the victim was taken to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, where they later died from their injuries, police said. The bicyclist’s name has not yet been released.

Police said the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

No other details were immediately available.
