Deputies said the woman was a passenger in a 2002 Saturn, which was driven by a 32-year-old Lakeland man.

According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle was traveling west on S.R. 60 when it went off the roadway and overturned, crashing into a nearby light pole.

The woman, identified as Laura Gonzalez, was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

The driver had non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation is ongoing, but deputies said impaired driving does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
