Lady Lake man ejected, killed in rollover crash on Florida Turnpike near US-27

Fatal wreck closes Turnpike in Lake County

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – A 26-year-old Lady Lake man was killed early Tuesday in a rollover crash on the Florida Turnpike in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol lsaid.

The fatal single-vehicle wreck happened around 3:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike near U.S. 27.

The FHP said the man was driving a 2012 Ford Escape north on the Turnpike when he ran off the road for an unknown reason.

The SUV overturned several times, ejecting the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene, an FHP crash report said.

All northbound lanes of the Turnpike were closed in the area, and drivers were forced to exit onto U.S. 27.

An investigation is ongoing.
