90-year old man killed in Melbourne crash

Crash happened in area of South Harbor City Boulevard, East Hibiscus Boulevard

MELBOURNE, Fla. – A 90-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Melbourne on Tuesday morning, according to a news release.

Melbourne Police said the crash happened around 6:18 a.m. in the area of South Harbor City Boulevard and East Hibiscus Boulevard.

According to the release, a Kia Soul was attempting to make a left turn onto East Hibiscus Boulevard from South Harbor City Boulevard and was struck by a 2016 Chevy Tahoe traveling south on South Harbor City Boulevard.

Police said the driver of the Kia, identified as Ismael Rivera, died at a local hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries in the crash.

The release did not say if the driver of the Chevrolet, identified as a 41-year-old Melbourne woman, was injured.
