Dunnellon man killed after driving through stop sign in Marion County, FHP says

Crash occurred on U.S. 41 at SW 29th Street

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 50-year-old Dunnellon man was killed Friday night in a crash of two pickup trucks, caused by his not stopping at a stop sign in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 7:35 p.m. on U.S. 41 at SW 29th Street, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the Dunnellon man was traveling west on SW 29th Street as a 61-year-old Morriston woman traveled south on U.S. 41.

At the intersection of the roads, troopers said the Dunnellon man failed to stop for SW 29th Street’s stop sign at U.S. 41, causing his pickup truck to enter the direct path of the woman’s.

The front of the truck on U.S. 41 struck the left side of the truck on SW 29th Street, the report states. The Dunnellon man was pronounced dead at the scene while the Morriston woman suffered minor injuries, according to FHP.
