Trooper, witness rescue crash victim from burning vehicle in Sumter County

Man pulled through rear window, Florida Highway Patrol says

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A man was rescued this weekend from a burning vehicle in Sumter County after a crash caused two cars to catch fire.

Troopers said they responded to a crash when another crash happened and caused the fire.

The FHP said one man was trapped in one of the cars and couldn’t escape.

A trooper and another person pulled him through the rear window of the vehicle before it became engulfed in flames.

An investigation is ongoing.
