Motorcyclist dies after crash on SR-408, troopers say

Crash occurred as rider traveled westbound

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A motorcyclist died after crashing in Orange County while riding on State Road 408 early Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 1:23 a.m. as the motorcyclist traveled westbound on the 408 in the outside lane, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the rider — a 45-year-old Groveland man — veered off the roadway left and struck a guardrail at mile marker 22.

The rider was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the report states.

It was unknown whether the man was wearing a helmet during the crash.

FHP is still investigating.
